The idea for me to create a savoury waffles for the Thermomix came about from a lovely Thermobexta Facebook group member, Claire. She posted a photo last night of some savoury waffles she’d made her family for dinner.
They looked terrific and her kids liked them… However, they asked if she could please not make them again for at least two years! hahah from the mouths of babes…
Well that got me in the mood to eat savoury waffles and I knew a batter would be made in seconds in the Thermomix. This was something I hadn’t eaten before but sounded like something I’d like!
I’ve been wanting to create a cauliflower cheese fritter for a long time. So I combined the two ideas and have come up with this very yummy savoury waffle!
Oh and I asked if Claire would like to test them out on her kids. She said she’d love to. They had them for dinner and when she asked if they’d like them again sometime, the response was ‘yes… tomorrow!’
Don’t Have a Waffle Maker?
This is the waffle maker I use and recommend (no affiliation). If you don’t have a waffle maker and are looking to purchase, I highly recommend you spend a little more on something like this than buy a cheapie. Like with everything, you get what you pay for.
I’ve had several people upgrade their cheapies to this one on my recommendation. All have been very impressed about how much better waffles turn out for them now!
If you’d prefer to try a different method of cooking, I’ve seen them looking fabulous coming out of a good old jaffle maker, also fried in a frying pan and made in pie makers!
More a Sweet Tooth?
For sweet waffles, check out my Thermomix Waffles! Actually they can be served sweet or savoury, but generally we serve them with sweet toppings.
These Cauliflower Cheese Waffles we love with eggs, or just by themselves as a savoury bite!

Omg!! This is amazing. I used Woolworths G/F self raising flour because that was all I had (and it was fine) and served it with a steamed egg cooked in left over tomato sauce, topped with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Everyone loved it. Husband didn’t want to know what was in it because he enjoyed it so much he was worried all the veges would put him off ?
Daughter said. Please can you cook this more often
I love the look of these but was hoping someone has made them dairy free before?
Hey Kristy, people have made these DF before – simply use a non-dairy milk and replace cheese with some nutritional yeast flakes, you might like to up the salt a little too since cheese is quite a salty ingredient.
Amazing recipe, perfect for a quick snack (reheat in toaster) or proper meal. Delicious way to get some extra veg in too. Thanks Bec
Thank you, Naysha! We always have some of these in the freezer ready to toast too!
Have made these over and over again, I love eating them on their own or topped with avocado or a poached egg and smoked salmon. This is such a flexible recipe, when I don’t have enough cauliflower I’ve used sweet potato and broccoli and they still turned out great.
Can’t get enough of these, absolutely love them & they’re a winner with the kids. Potato & zucchini are also fab in them. Our go-to quick dinner option.
These taste lovely and so easy to make! my toddler ate so much!!! What a great family recipe.
No waffle maker, but made them as fritters in the frypan! Delicious! Easy! Tasty! Quick!
I made a double batch of these yesterday, prepared the mix in the morning and left in fridge for the day as I had 10 min spare. Kiddies loved them. We had them with Avo. tomato, corn salsa. The left overs as ready for a quick reheat meal. Thank you for another awesome family recipe x
We tried this this evening and while the reception from the kids was not unequivocal, they got eaten and vegetables were consumed unknowingly! And we both loved ours. Will definitely be in the meal rotation.
Wow! Thankyou so much for yet another phrnomenal recipe Bec. The kids love these Cauliflower Cheese Waffles and keep on requesting them, day after day. The texture is just perfect and the taste is spot on! I cant believe how quick and easy it was to make this recipe. Really looking forward to our next batch!

Hi Viv, see note 1 below the recipe for gluten free. People have made dairy free before too if you’d like, just use a non-dairy milk and replace cheese with some nutritional yeast flakes. Enjoy!
