I am obsessed with all your recipes and both of your cookbook are covered in food because I have used them so much. But this recipe is actually my fave! So so so so delicious and nurturing. As someone said above it’s like a big bear hug!

This soup is like a nourishing big bear hug. It fills you and warms you, and you can’t help but feel comforted with every mouthful.

I just made this delicious soup. I used red lentils because i had them and they dont need soaking…i used a half jar of Pasata (about 300g) and added water to that to make up the 800g…so didnt need the tomato paste….used homemade stock paste from basic cook book ….and i have eaten nearly the whole lot….thank you it is a really great soup (meal)..

Such a fantastically delicious soup. Leftovers did not stay around long enough for me to get any. Hungry teenage boy had it for snacks and lunch. Will definitely be making this again 🙂

I’m sitting here trying to figure out where the deliciousness came from?!? Witchcraft!! As a total lentil novice I could never have imagined they’d be so tasty, so thank you!

Also – as a side note, does the white sweet potato play a special role? I could only source orange so I subbed that instead.

I’ve had a run of bad luck with dried legumes recently. 🙁 I made this today with green lentils, soaked them for 3.5 hours before draining and adding to the tmx but after cooking they were still crunchy (temp was definitely on, the liquid was bubbling and steaming). I gave them another 10 minutes at 100ºC then let them sit in the thermoserver for about 15 minutes which helped a bit, but I was too hungry to wait any longer. 😉 Still delicious though!

I made this as my mum’s first thermomix meal and her first exclamation was ‘what a delicious hearty soup’. She now has your blog information and no doubt will be cooking up a Thermobexta storm in no time!

    Thanks again Bec!!
Made this yesterday with a couple of variations to suit what was in the fridge.
No cayenne pepper either, but miss vego loved it, and we will both enjoy for lunch today
